Free Data for Student Research

We believe that access to reliable data should never be a barrier to learning and discovery. Our mission is to make global economic, social, and development data easily accessible to students, especially those in low-income countries, to support academic research and education.

To help students pursue meaningful research without financial constraints, we provide free access to international datasets. Whether you're working on a term paper, thesis, or dissertation, we want to support your academic journey by providing the data you need.

Eligible Countries

We selected eligible countries based on the principle that their GDP per capita is less than 1,500 USD per year:

Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Chad, C.A. Republic, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Nepal, Niger, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Tanzania, Tajikistan, Togo, Uganda, Yemen, and Zambia.

How to Gain Access

Register on the data download page. Then, contact us from your institutional email. Include the name of your college, university, or K-12 school. If you don't have a student email account, please provide another form of proof that you are a student at that institution.

Tell us about your research project. Is it a term paper or a thesis? What is the topic?

How to Cite the Data

When logged in, you can download the data and the original source for each series. You can then apply APA guidelines in your reference list. Here is an example:

Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). (1980–2024). Labor productivity in USD. Retrieved June 8, 2025, from TheGlobalEconomy.com website: https://www.theglobaleconomy.com
