Investment is the most volatile component of the GDP that declines and changes disproportionately compared to the growth of the overall economy during expansions and contractions. Its dynamics are, in fact, a good leading indicator for economic and employment growth. When firms start buying more plant and equipment, we can expect stronger economic and employment growth to follow in several months.

The table shows the percent change in investment from the same quarter last year for the latest quarter with available data. It also shows the investment growth in the previous quarter and the same quarter last year. The data are updated on a daily basis.
