Capital Account
A tabulation of the flows of financial assets between domestic private residents and businesses and foreign private residents and businesses.
The following investment flows would be recorded in the capital account:
- Purchase of foreign securities by domestic residents and purchases of domestic securities by foreign residents.
- Lending to foreign residents by domestic residents and borrowing by domestic residents from foreign residents.
- Investment by domestic firms in foreign firms and investment by foreign firms in domestic firms.
- Deposits made my domestic central bank, finance ministries, treasuries, or national governments in a foreign central bank, and deposits made by a foreign entities in domestic central bank.
The following investment flows would be recorded in the capital account:
