During that time, the average value for Japan was
80824 building permits with a minumum of 56527 building permits
in February 2010 and a maximum of 121149 building permits in June 2007.
The latest number is 71787, a change of 18.14% from the previous data point of
60764 building permits and a change of 1.5% from a year ago when the level was

The number of building permits is considered a leading macroeconomic indicator as it typically grows a few months ahead of an economic expansion and declines a few months before an economic slowdown.
