The latest value from 2015 is 2.81 GDP per kg of oil equivalent, an increase from 2.57 GDP per kg of oil equivalent in 2014. In comparison, the world average is 11.72 GDP per kg of oil equivalent, based on data from 34 countries. Historically, the average for Iceland from 1990 to 2015 is 2.81 GDP per kg of oil equivalent. The minimum value, 2.25 GDP per kg of oil equivalent, was reached in 2011 while the maximum of 3.55 GDP per kg of oil equivalent was recorded in 2005. Definition: GDP per unit of energy use is the PPP GDP per kilogram of oil equivalent of energy use. PPP GDP is gross domestic product converted to 2011 constant international dollars using purchasing power parity rates. An international dollar has the same purchasing power over GDP as a U.S. dollar has in the United States.
