Definition: Percent change in the inflation for aclohol and tobacco compared to the same month last year.
Alcohol: Defined as drinkable liquids containing ethanol. EU regulations specifically classify beverages with an alcohol strength by volume exceeding (1.2%) as alcoholic beverges.
Tobacco is defined as ‘leaves and other natural processed or unprocessed parts of tobacco plants, including expanded and reconstituted tobacco’ and tobacco products as ‘products that can be consumed and consist, even partly, of tobacco, whether genetically modified or not’. Based on their route of administration, tobacco products can be smokeless tobacco products including chewing tobacco, nasal tobacco and tobacco for oral use, and tobacco products for smoking, including manufactured products that can be consumed via a combustion process (like cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, roll-your-own tobacco and pipe tobacco) or via a water pipe.
Related Products: E-cigarettes and nicotine pouches are increasingly grouped alongside tobacco in national taxation and health policies.
