Definition: The percent change in the inflation for housing rent compared to the same month last year. Housing inlfation refers to the total rent payments made by tenants to landlords for the right to use a residential dwelling. Crucially, this reflects the actual amount paid, regardless of any social housing benefits, housing allowances, or rent subsidies the tenant receives from public authorities. What is Included in Actual Rentals: Base rent: The core payment for the occupation of the dwelling. Heating and utility charges: Payments for utilities (like water, electricity, and heating) are included if they are billed directly by the landlord as part of the total rental payment.
