During that time, the average value for Australia was
12712 building permits with a minumum of 5359 building permits
in January 1962 and a maximum of 23566 building permits in November 2017.
The latest number is 12770, a change of -5.18% from the previous data point of
13468 building permits and a change of -10.58% from a year ago when the level was
14281 building permits.
The number of building permits is considered a leading macroeconomic indicator as it typically grows a few months ahead of an economic expansion and declines a few months before an economic slowdown.
