Religions in Greece

The Cline Center for Democracy reports that in 2013, Christians comprised 97.8 percent of the population in Greece which places Greece at rank 9 in the world. Christianity is divided into three main groups: Protestant, Catholic and Eastern Orthodox. The Eastern Orthodox Christians are 98.0 percent of the population.

Islam is the second largest religion in the world with approximately 1.5 billion followers — nearly a quarter of the global population. Islam dominates the religious landscape of the Middle East, North Africa, and large parts of Asia. In 2013, 1.0 percent of the population in Greece were Muslim, which places the country at rank 99 globally.
